Cement prices to go up in January
Cement prices to go up in January
Holcim (Mauritius) Ltd, one of the two private importers of Portland
cement, announced this Thursday that cement prices will increase by 8%
in January. Which means that the construction industry, which is
already facing the numerous challenges of increasing prices, will have
to try to cut costs in order to maintain profitability. The increase
in price will also naturally affect consumers, since cement represents
approximately 30% of costs when building a new house. Reports say the
increase in cement prices has to do with the current world economic
crisis and the rising costs of fuel and freight.
