Man violently assaulted by twin brothers after allegedly torturing their mother
Two twin brothers aged 19 are currently in police custody after having violently assaulted their mother's partner, a 33-year-old fisherman called Jovanni Marianen, Friday evening. The latter is suspected of
having tortured the teenagers' mother on THursday evening. After the
assault, Marianen was admitted to the intensive care unit of the SSR
National Hospital. The twin brothers were arrested Saturday morning.
As for their mother, she is also under medical observation at the SSR
National Hospital, where she was admitted Thursday evening with
numerous bruises on her face and arms. According to media reports, her assailant assaulted her with a knife and a brass knuckle in a fit of
jealousy. The mother, Pamela Coopen, is said to have accompanied her former husband, who was released from jail Wednesday, to get his
methadone treatment, causing her current partner's ire. Coopen, aged
42, will have to undergo surgery since her nose was broken during her
ordeal, which lasted several hours.
